Question
I AM A GUARDIAN AD LITEN FOR A CHILD WHO WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM MOTHER BECAUSE AN XRAY SHOWED SKULL PRACTURE. NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. CAN CAPHALHEMATOMA HAPPEN AT BIRTH AND NOT SHOW UP FOR MONTHS. I NEED SOME ANSWERS BECAUSE THIS MOTHER IS UPSET BEYOND BELIEF. THE DOCTOR ORDERED AN XRAY BECAUSE THE BABY HAD A HUGH SWELLING ON HER HEAD. SHE HAD CARRIED THE BABY TO THE DOCTOR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG.
Answer
It is very unusual for a 3 month old to have a lymphnode. What is important is to know the size of the lump? Since it moves when touched, then one needs to rule out a condition called as cephalhematoma- collection of blood on the scalp seen especially at the time of birth and deliveries with forceps.
