Question
I want to know in some cough syp (1)-dextromethorphan is added with bromhexine. Is this combination is correct as dexometh? Is cough suppressant & bromhex..is expectorant.(2)And in certain composition bromhexine is added with CPM where CPM dry the cough & bromhex is expected. Please comment.
Answer
Antihistamines are used to relieve or prevent the symptoms of hay fever and other types of allergy. They also help relieve some symptoms of the common cold, such as sneezing and runny nose. They work by making the mucus thicker. Bromhexine is a mucolytic drug. It is found to reduce viscosity of mucus. It is an antitussive agent (synthetic codeine isomer with no analgesic and additive function) used in the symptomatic relief of dry cough
