SPECIALIST ANSWERS
Question :
Thank you for your reply, sorry it's taken so long for me to reply. The type of Kidney Disease is called---Multi- Cystic Dysplastic Right Kidney, that is what they called it. I spoke with a Dr. and was asking him the difference between the Poly and the Multi and he said their really wasn't a difference. Your opinion? Regarding my sons blood pressure reading being so high, the high readings are not a constant thing, I don't understand this? He has very good readings and than all of a sudden they are high. Last night I took his B/P and it was 138/97. Are readings such as this Hypertension? There are times that he doesn't do anything but sleep and than there are times when he is non stop all day long, extremely hyper. I can't keep up with him! Any comment would be welcome. Thank you!
Answer
Yes, multicystic dysplastic kidney and polycystic kidneys are spectrum of the same disease condition. Also, what your son has are hypertension spikes where in his blood pressure shoots up at some time just as we get fever spikes. What would be required is to time the antihypertensives in such a way that he has round the clock action of the drug. If he gets a spike at some particular time then the dose or the time of the medicine can be adjusted accordingly. However, that would have to be done under the guidance of a doctor.
