Question
My daughter is 15 months old. She has 2 lymph nodes in her right groin area that have become enlarged. My pediatrician said it was nothing to worry about because there were lymph nodes that were symmetrical (on her left groin area). However, those are not enlarged. Should I get a second opinion?
Answer
Does she have any injury or infection in the right leg? IF yes, one needs to treat that infection and the lymph node size would subside. Also for an acute enlargement of the lymph node a short course of antibiotic would be useful. Lymph nodes in the groin are common and considered as non-pathological if they are less than 1-1.5 cm in size. Only if they acutely increase in size or get inflamed then treatment is required.
