Question
My daughter was born blind in one eye due to the fact nothing grew at the back of her eye. She had cosmetic surgery at 5 years to wire both eyes together. She is now 30 and the sight in her good eye has deteriorated quite a bit according to her optician. Can she have laser surgery on her good eye as Moorfields are reluctant to do it, or is there anything else that can be done? They have advised her to stop driving.
Answer
One must find out the cause of vision failure in a 30 year old as it is very unusual. If it is due to retinal problem, she may require opinion from an eye surgeon for surgery. Refractive error progressive at this age is not so common.
