Question
My son, who is 8 months now, has an eye problem at 3 months. I noticed that, he had a squint and rubbing his eyes excessively. His focus is out of sink his eyes jumps up and down and from side to side. I've seen a doc, but has not given any diagnosis. Can you help please a worried parent?
Answer
Since he has these eye movements, one should rule out a condition called as nystagmus. It can occur due to a variety of causes such as brain involvement, blindness or even albinism. Since he has a squint and is also rubbing his eyes excessively, vision problems should be ruled out. Also if eye test is normal, then consult a neurologist to rule out a brain involvement.
