Question
My son now 16 months old weighs only 10.2 kg. His birth weight was 3.45kg and upto 8 months he was in good weight(8kg.) but when he was 12 months old the weight was same . When I consult a doctor he told me that may be mother doesn't have enough milk. Any other possible reason for that, we are trying to feed him more with grain powder etc. No visible problems to him please give a reply
Answer
10.2 kg for a 16 month old is not a bad weight. Remember in the first year of life, the weight gain is tremendous and the baby puts on triple the birth weight by 1 year of age. Following that the weight gain is only 2kg per year for next 4 years. This is the period when the child puts on height. Till your child is putting on height, it playful and very active, one should not be worried about the weight.
