Question
My child is 4 months old she is breast feeding. my child weighed 2.8 kgs when she was born. Now she weighs 5.75 kgs. In the first two months she gained 1 kgs each month. But in the past three weeks her weight remained the same. she feeds for 5 minutes only during every feed and feeds about 10 times each day. What alternative is there to improve my kids appetite and weight? Can I start to give her Cerelac?
Answer
Her weight is good. In the first 3 months, a baby gains about 30 grams per day, then next 3 months the weight gain is 20 grams per day and subsequently the weight gain is about 10 grams per day. Thus a baby will double its birth weight by 5 months and triple its birth weight by 12 months.
