Question
A layer of dead skin seems to be accumulating at my baby's hairline. I have to put baby oil to soften it & comb it off. Is it the correct way? I heard it is common for all babies. What is it due to? I heard it is due to something when they were in the womb.
Answer
The condition is called as seborrheic dermatitis or cradle cap. It is due to excessive scaling of the skin on the scalp. It is quite common in infants and does not require any treatment. Treatment is required only if it spreads to the face or gets infected.
