Question
My 1 year old grandson's pediatrician has ordered an MRI because he appears to have established one hand dominance (left) too soon. What are the implications of this?
Answer
One would have to evaluate him completely and see if there are any soft neurological signs to suggest any nervous system problem. Handedness is not a criteria for investigation unless the pediatrician suspects that the child is not using the right side of the body as much and wants to investigate for the same.
