Question
Every time my three year old son gets a cut or a scrape of any kind on his hands they get seriously infected. Twice now he has had a serious infection along his cuticle. He is constantly washing his hands and hardly ever puts them in his mouth. His twin brother gets cuts and scrapes and it fine. Is this a sign of something more serious?
Answer
Rule out an immunodeficiency such as neutrophil defect. A simple complete blood count should give a clue to it. Consult your pediatrician for same.
