| Question : |
My son is nearly 3 years old and his blood pressure was 61/26 in the ER. Does that relate specifically to his dehydration from the flu? And how alarming is that blood pressure? Thanks |
Answer |
His blood pressure is on the lower side and if he is dehydrated. He needs to be treated with intravenous fluids to bring up the pressure. If not dehydrated, other causes of low BP such as heart disease, infection, adrenal disease should be ruled out. |
