| Question : |
My 6 year old son developed visible lumps on both sides of his neck starting a few years ago. In the last 6 mos they have grown considerably and now has small ones in his arm pits & groin. He is always fatigued and tires easily in sports. His blood work is good. CT scan shows enlarged nodes and tonsils. We are being referred to a pediatric ENT, then a biopsy. Any suggestions as to what this might be? |
Answer |
He seems to have generalised lymphadenopathy which may be seen in a variety of conditions such as Tuberculosis, HIV, Infectious mononucleosis, histiocytosis, sarcoidosis and even malignancy. Since it has been increasing over a period of years, one may need to do certain blood tests to find the diagnosis and if still no answer, a biopsy may be required. |
