Question
Sir, my brother is 17 yr old he has enlarged cervical lymphnodes. He has had biopsy and the report makes it clear that it is not TB or cancer. The doctors are perplexed and say that this may be dorfmen's disease.
Answer
Lymphadenopathy can be due to several causes such as TB, HIV, Malignancy etc. If all the above have been ruled out, conditions such as other viral infections e.g. Cytomegalovirus, rubella, epstein barr virus and parasitic infections such as Toxoplasmosis should be ruled out. A good pathologist should have a look at the biopsy slides and comment on the same.
