Question
One of my collegue's son is 4 years old, but is unable to walk. He has checked with doctors, but they have said nothing is wrong with his brain & maybe he will walk later. He has tried ayurvedic medicines also. Can you please let me know the reason for this state of the child and the treatment for this, as I felt it is already too late and the child should be running now please adv urgently? Regards Shanu
Answer
If a child is not walking by 4 years, he definitely needs further investigation. Whether it is cerebral palsy, a muscle disorder, a nerve problem or a brain defect can only be determined after examining the child. Consult a pediatrician for the same. In the meantime, physiotherapy may be started to increase the power in the legs so as to assist early rehabilitation.
