Question
My child keeps getting head lice she's 16yrs old. She never uses the same products because she thinks the head lice will keep coming back, & its true because she'll use a product but then after about 3 - 6 months the head lice come back. Its happened again & she got so traumatised by it that she started to pull her hair out even though we only found one head lice. Our house is always clean & we keep washing the bed linen & towels but after 3-6 months she keeps getting head lice appearing. What can i do?
Answer
Your child could be getting the head lice from other children in school or college. Also the lice may be recurring due to hatching of the nits (eggs) in the hair. Applying an oil based anti lice drug would be useful than a shampoo based drug. The oil can be applied overnight as per instructions on the bottle and the hair can be washed the next morning. Also repeat the same after 14 days so as to kill the nits and the lice that may have just hatched. Also read the article on "HEAD LICE" on www.pediatriconcall.com or from the link given below:
