Question
My son (2-1/2) has been potty trained with no accident for 2 months. Today, he had three "accidents" when we repeatedly asked him if he needs to use the potty. Earlier today, he said his pee hurt, but he has said that it does not hurt since then. Can this be a physical condition or is it behavioral? We have not been doing anything traumatic or unusual to cause me to think that could be the cause.
Answer
These accidents are nothing to worry about and can occur sometimes in children who have just been potty trained. What is important to know whether the consistency of the stools has changed, whether they have become looser, as they could signal diarrhea for which your child may need treatment.
