Question
My 5 year old has had greenish stools for the last few years ( yes, years ). Our pediatrician thought it was due to fluoride in our water or vitamins. We just found out that we do NOT have fluoridated water. We stopped his vitamins several months ago yet his stools remain green in color. I would appreciate your comments.
Answer
Greenish stools indicate intestinal hurry and are due to the color of the bile. It indicates that the motility of the intestine is very fast. Are the stools also semi loose to loose? If yes, it signifies intestinal hurry. You can get a stool examination done and if required further tests can be done if the stool examination is abnormal
