Question
My 5 yrs. old daughter has been diagnosed with urinary tract infection. She was given Bacterium Suspension antibiotics. She was all right for a while and then her frequent urinations returned and we took her to see another doctor who gave her Zinnat Suspension antibiotics after doing a test. My girl said she doe not feel pain when urinating nor does she have a fever. She has finished her zinnat and I see no improvement. Is it too early to tell if Zinnat is working for her? We also make drink lots of water. I m very upset. What can I do?
Answer
The best way to detect whether her UTI has gone is to get a urine culture. If the urine culture is negative, your child has responded and does not require any antibiotics. However, you may need to get her investigated as she has had too frequent an infection. Consult a pediatric nephrologist for the same. Also read the article on "UTI" on www,pediatriconcall.com.
