Question
My cousin 2 and half year old is suffering from nephrotic syndrome. Please advice me a diet chart that I can give him. I am confused in your diet chart as the food that is given as important to feed, is also having high salt content. Help me out thank you
Answer
The diet in Nephrotic syndrome consists of low sodium diet (low salt intake with no papad, pickles and salted biscuits, wafers) with normal protein intake during the acute phase and once the child goes into remission i.e. the proteinuria and edema disappear, a high protein diet consisting of eggs, pulses, legumes and cereals can be given with a normal sodium intake.
