| My granddaughter, aged 10 months, has a low neutrophil count, 400 . . .the test was basically a mistake and the haemotologist says that everything else in the blood tests is good. . . hence, no other abnormalities . . .she is strong, alert, smart, healthy, have never been sick in her entire 10 months of life, is developing beautifully . . .her pediatrician is "shocked" that she has such a low neutrophil count and told the hemotologist that she is one of the healthiest babies that he has ever seen. My question is to what extent it is important to follow up with more, and other invasive procedures, such as a bone marrow transplant. If this test hadn't been done, the parents would NEVER have suspected that their daughter might be at risk . . .for ANYTHING . . . Is it possible that she will grow out of this and/or that the test might have been skewed due to her age? Please advise. Thank you. |
