Question
Hi, last week only I came to know, that, I had a malignant skin disease namely "Nuerofibromatosis" ,which will be caused by some mutation of some gene. Because of this, I am getting tumour like lumps on my neck and stomach. Doctor said, it will spread through out my skin including my face. Doctor said that they don't have any cure for this, but only thing ,they can do, is removing tumours using surgery. Please let me, if there is any medicine for my disease, atleast preventing the spreading of lumps on my skin. Else please give your valuable suggestions.
Answer
The skin tumors are also called neurofibromas and tend to spread very slowly. The treatment for the same is surgery only if they cause pain, disfigurement or affecting surrounding structures. There have been trials trying out newer drugs for the treatment of neurofibromas, but their effectiveness is still not proven.
