Question
My child is 1.5 years old. He does not eat properly and instead always insists on milk. He throws tantrums for very small things. He always wakes up crying. However, physically he seems to be active. If it's not a medical problem then how should we deal with it?
Answer
Your child seems to have temper tantrums. Temper tantrums are commonly seen in children between the ages of 10 months to 2 and half years. Rather than punishing your child, you'll have to be firm in dealing with him. Whenever, you are with your child, give him lot of love but do not pamper him. Be persuasive and firm. Do not give in to all the demands and make the child realize that such behaviour will not be tolerated. The best way to deal with temper tantrums is to ignore it, walk away and come back after the tantrum is over. You will need to be very consistent in your training for even a slightest lapse will make the child go back to his tantrums. Sometimes even diverting his attention to other things, making him forget the cause of his tantrum would also work wonders. Hope this answers your query.
