Question
One of my teachers has a child that they "think" has Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I have been unable to find any information on this. Is it tied in with ADD/ADHD? If so, do you have any references I can use? Thank you....
Answer
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), is a disorder where there is an ongoing pattern of uncooperative, defiant, and hostile behavior toward authority figures that seriously interferes with the youngster's day to day functioning. The causes of ODD are unknown. A child with ODD may have other associated disorders such as ADHD, learning disorders or mood disorders which need to be treated. Treatment includes behaviour therapy, psychotherapy and family therapy
