Hi. I'm currently a student in Diploma in early Childhood. I have a project concerning Common Illnesses in Children. I'd like to know the proper treatment for fever for a 2-year-old child. And could u please tell me the names of the medicine or drugs usually given to the ill child. Thank you so much. Really appreciate it

The causes of fever in a 2 year old are diverse. The commonest causes are infections such as viral fever, bacterial infections, fungal infections or protozoal infections. Other causes are autoimmune disorders. Infections commonly seen are common cold, cough, diarrhea, ear infections, throat infections, pneumonia, meningitis, abscesses, malaria, typhoid etc. The treatment of fever is treatment of the cause. Symptomatic treatment consists of tepid sponging for fever up to 100 degree F. Fever above 100 degree F is treated with antipyretics such as paracetamol. Hope this answers your query.
