Question
My daughter was diagnosed with kidney infection when she was 23 months. She had no symptoms, just sudden pain before she had to pass urine and Lots of blood in her urine. She had a scan done and the kidneys are fine, the infection seemed to have been in the bladder. She is on antibiotics for the last 6 months; she is still waiting for further tests to be done. Every time I stop the antibiotics the infection reoccurs. I am really worried about her. What should I do? Doctors don't help, they are telling me to wait for further test to be done?!?
Answer
Your daughter has repeated urine infections for which she needs to be on long term antibiotics to prevent damage to the kidneys. Additional tests in the form of Voiding cystourethrogram may be required to check if she has reflux of urine back into the kidney from the bladder.
