Question
My daughter is about to turn 4, and it appears that she is getting her secondary upper incisor. I realize that this is quite early, and I am wondering if this can be a normal variant, or is there are any concerns that I should have addressed. She has shown no reason for concern in past exams, and has been developmentally precautious in all aspects. But 4 seem so early. Thank you
Answer
It is not unusual for early eruption of the permanent incisors especially in cases where there has been an early exfoliation of the deciduous (primary) teeth, due to trauma. 4 seem to be slightly early, and I would advise visiting a pediatric dentist (for an examination). Since you have mentioned that your child is developmentally precocious, so in all probability, this is a normal variant for her.
