Question
If your teeth sometime bleed when you brush them, Does that mean you automatically have gingivitis? Also how can I tell if I have it or not?
Answer
Bleeding gums could have various reasons - poor oral hygiene, reduced intake of vitamins(esp Vit C), illness, hormonal disturbances. Several medications could also cause gums to bleed e.g. anti convulsants. "Gingivitis" is nothing but an inflammation of the gums, and could be due to all these reasons. I would advise a dental check up, esp. if the bleeding has been long standing, and not getting better.
