Question
I have a 10 year old son who was diagnosed with a Kidney Disease prior to his birth. His kidney was removed a few years ago due to cysts rupturing on his kidney. He has recently developed blood pressure readings such as 149/137, he has chest pain, dizzi spells ,severe headaches that come and go very quickly and water retention. The Dr. recently did an EKG on my son and he said he had to get back with me because something was not right with the right side reading. I am at wits end trying to find web-sites on this subject and for once in my life I would love to be told where to go! Any information would be greatly appreciated to me and my son. Thank you.
Answer
Please let us know the details of the kidney disease that the child suffered from. Was it polycystic kidney disease? Your son's major problem seems to be his hypertension (high BP reading). His chest pain, dizziness, headaches are all due to same. What you need to know is the cause of his hypertension. Since, his one kidney was removed, how is the function of the other kidney? If the other kidney is not functioning properly, other tests such as blood tests, urine test etc may be required and that itself could be causing hypertension.
