Question
Can you advise any details re cyclosporin treatment for frequent relapsingnephrotic syndrome? Do you have any details re treating relapses with vitamins C & B5/quercetin/CoatsAloe vera juice & children's benadryl instead of steroids etc?
Answer
Steroids are the mainstay for inducing remission in nephrotic syndrome. Cyclosporin is given in steroid resistant or steroid dependent nephrotic syndrome to induce remission and prevent steroid toxicity. However it has its own complication and hence is not routinely used in patients except in adolescents with resistant nephrotic syndrome. Other agents such as aloe vera and vitamins do not induce remission nor prevent relapse.
