Question
Hi, I am hoping that you can find out something about dengue fever for me. I had dengue in July of this year, from Thailand and subsequently I have now been diagnosed with a maculopathy in my right eye which apparently is very rare from dengue but there have been a few reported cases in Europe. I want to gain more information and to see if it will get better as it is blotchy in my eye- please can you help? i would be very grateful,
Answer
Yes, there have been very few case reports of ocular problems in Dengue fever. What have been described are hemorrhages in the eye and maculopathy. The intervals between onset of fever and awareness of blurred vision are between 2 to 15 days. Visual recovery was good in most of the cases. You should consult your ophthalmologist for the extent of the disease damage and so to prognosticate the same.
