Question
My niece is 11 yr old and 4feet and 7 inches tall, she had her first period last month. I want to know is it possible for her to gain height now? Thank you.
Answer
Usually menses occurs in girls during stage 3 or 4 of puberty whereas the height increase occurs in stage 1 and 2, i.e. the height grows earlier and menses comes later when the breast development has already advanced. Girls' heights will rarely increase more than 2" after menarche has occurred.
