Question
I was walking with my 2 1/2 yr. old grand daughter on the other day. We probably went half a mile, when she got tired and asked me to carry her. She then said "my leg hurts, it is rubbery and flippy." She also craves salt. Is this anything to worry about?
Answer
Since she craves salt and has pain in legs on walking, one needs to rule out a low sodium or potassium in her blood. A blood test for the same would be useful. If it is normal, one need not worry as pain in the limbs is often a part of growing up called as "GROWING PAINS". If it continues or is too frequent, you may consult your pediatrician for the same.
