Question
1-1/2 yr old passing off white color stools, since last 3-4 months, no other complaints, no hepatitis, normal growth and milestones, drinks cows milk about 1 liter/day.(is it okay or should we reduce qty). i heard white stools can be because of non absorption of cows milk protein. Is it true? What can be cause thank you.
Answer
Yes, the white stools can be due to the large quantity of milk. Do a stool stercobilinogen to look for cholestasis. If stool stercobilinogen is positive, it suggests food related color of the stool.
