TRACE MANGUS
Hello, my name is Trace. I was diagnosed with Kawasaki's disease at the age of 1. It started out as a high fever and a rash all over my body. The doctors had no idea what it was for weeks. They gave me a spinal tap, eventually I got over the fever on my own. I was the first case of Kawasaki's disease in the western US. I am now 25 years old, and my whole life I have suffered from the following: severe headaches, insomnia, arthritis, and the worst problem of all is the scoliosis, which I have taken large quantities of morphine to deal with the pain. I also have taken antidepressants and sedatives for sleep the last 15 years. The high fever from the Kawasaki's caused a little brain damage, I have struggled learning my whole life. I lucked out and have a good heart, liver, kidney, but I have IBS and an overactive thyroid. What people should know about Kawasaki's disease is that it can cause scoliosis. I wrote this so you could recognize symptoms and know long term effects. If you have question's to ask me my e-mail address is www.jerrypetersen@comcast.net, and leave your e-mail so I can send you answers to any questions you might have. Thanks, Sincerely Kawasaki's survivor - Trace R. Mangus.
P.S. If you have Kawasaki's disease you can still live a normal life.
