VUR Disease
Connie Dorry

After reading others info on this site, I wish to add much the same as the one I read about making
sure you understand everything the Dr. has said as difficult as it is to not feel intimidated.

We, the parents must be assertive. My Grandchild had two visits to the Doctor for feeling ill, fever
on and off again etc. only to be sent home, being told "things are going around". Finally the doctor
did see the need to run tests and child has VUR. He was put on an antibiotic with no return visits
and saying it will probably take care of itself before child is five.

Well, no! Child is three, and has lost 70%of one kidney, and the other is to the number two grade
reflux, which is ok, if treated.

Thanks for hearing me out!!
VUR - DEFLUX
Steve Griffiths

There is good news about the treatment of VUR and that is Deflux which is now being used extensively in the US. It is an endoscopic treatment which means it is far less invasive. It involves injecting a small amount of inert gel into the area where the Ureter meets the bladder. It takes 15 minutes and 80% of children are cured or improved, and they can have it safely repeated if necessary.
