Crotamiton

Mechanism :

Crotamiton is a scabicidal and antipruritic agent available as a cream or lotion for topical use only. The mechanisms of these actions are not known.


Indication :

  • Pruritus
  • Scabies

Contraindications :

Crotamiton should not be applied topically to patients who develop a sensitivity or are allergic to it or who manifest a primary irritation response to topical medications.


Dosing :

Available as 10%/30 gm cream, lotion.
Apply over entire body surface excluding face and scalp in the evening for a total of 3-5 days.

Adverse Effect :

Dermatitis, pruritus, rash, allergic sensitivity reactions.


Interaction :

No significant interaction found.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
