Metallic antimony is not poisonous. Antimony potassium tartrate {tartar emetic}, occurs in the form of a whitish or a whitish-yellow powder` and antimony trichloride {butter of antimony} are poisonous. The mode of action and symptoms of acute and chronic poisoning are similar to those produced by arsenic.

Fatal Dose :
Tartar emetic – 0.2 to 0.5 g; antimony trichloride – 01. to 0.2 g.
Fatal Period :
usually within 24 hours
Treatment :
1} Stomach wash 2} Tannic acid 4 g. by mouth forms an insoluble antimony tannate 3} B.A.L. 4} Symptomatic treatment
