What Is Mudra?
Mudra means different body postures basically meant for relaxation. It has originated from yoga. It's a type of yoga that can be understood and done easily. It works on the same principles of acupressure and acupuncture. It is so easy to do that even children can do it without any efforts.
Instructions: Before doing any mudra, take a few deep breaths, relax the mind, and then sit down either cross-legged or in padmasan to do it.
Ling Mudra
Cross the fingers of both the hands and make the thumb that is on the inside very erect.
Use of ling mudra: It is useful to cure cough.
Shunya Mudra
Bend your middle finger and touch the thumb as given in the picture (touch the portion of skin above the nail of the middle finger by the pad of the thumb). Keep the other 3 fingers straight.
Use of Shunya Mudra: It is very useful for ear ailments. It is recommended to do this mudra for 4-5 minutes if there is a problem with deafness, ear discharge.
Prithvi Mudra
Oppose the ring finger with the thumb, keeping the other fingers straight.
Use of Prithvi Mudra: It is useful to increase body strength and remove the weakness and fatigue from the body.
Surya Mudra
Bend your ring finger and touch the thumb as given in the picture (touch the portion of skin above the nail of the ring finger by the pad of the thumb). Keep the other 3 fingers straight.
Use of Surya mudra: It is useful to remove unwanted fat from the body.
Gyan Mudra
Oppose the index finger with the thumb, keeping the other fingers straight.
Use of Gyan mudra: It is useful for treating mental disorders, sleeps disorders (for both excessive and decreased sleep), weak memory, and hot-tempered individuals. It has to be done for a minimum of 30 minutes per day.
Varun Mudra
Oppose the little finger with the thumb, keeping the other fingers straight.
Use of Varun Mudra: It is useful in disorders such as anemia (low hemoglobin) and skin diseases.
Pran Mudra
Oppose the little and ring fingers with the thumb, keeping the other fingers straight.
Use of Pran Mudra: It is useful to decrease the spectacle number of the eyes and for other eye problems.
Vaayu Mudra
Bend your index finger and touch the thumb as given in the picture. (touch the portion of skin above the nail of the index finger by the pad of the thumb). Keep the other 3 fingers straight.
Use of Vaayu Mudra: It is useful in disorders of the joints, stroke (paralysis). When used along with Pran Mudra, it is very beneficial.
