Molybdenum

Mechanism :

An essential trace element is a cofactor for enzymes involved in the catabolism of sulphur amino acids, purines, and pyrimidines.


Indication :

  • Supplement to total parenteral nutrition (TPN) solutions

Contraindications :

Undiluted administration into peripheral vein; copper-deficient patients without copper supplementation.


Dosing :

Supplementation in patients receiving TPN:
20-120 mcg/day.

Adverse Effect :

Copper deficiency (high doses).


Interaction :

No known significant interactions.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended. Dosage adjustment may be needed in patients with bile duct obstruction.
