A 25-year-old patient came with a complaint of swelling and redness with pruritis over the abdominal wall(epigastric region), h/o lethargy and weakness, no h/o fever, and vomiting. Systemic examination was normal. We were advised for USG, which revealed abdominal wall cysticercosis with surrounding cellulitis. We prescribed Albendazole 400 mg bd, Want to know what should be the duration of treatment and also any role of steroids in this case?

There is no role for steroids. Albendazole has been used for 14-21 days in tissue cysticercosis.

Albendazole: 10–14 days, 400 mg twice daily.
Steroids: Prednisolone 0.5–1 mg/kg/day for 5–7 days to reduce inflammation.
Symptomatic Treatment: NSAIDs for pain; antihistamines for pruritus.
Monitor response and consider follow-up imaging if symptoms persist.
