In a minor with thalassemia in an infant, how much iron is prescribed for 2 years? Is it needed?

The patient with Thalassemia minor can have Iron deficiency anemia and will be given iron only if the patient is iron-deficient. The usual dose we will give is 3 mg/Kg/day of elemental Iron.

iron overload due to thalassemia, iron therapy will be too much on the patient, so prescription should should be done strictly if related to iron deficiency anemia.
