Calamine

Mechanism :

Calamine is mixture of zinc oxide and iron oxide. Calamine acts as anti-pruritic agent when applied topically.


Indication :

  • Topical anti-pruritic
  • Skin soothing and protective

Contraindications :

Do not apply in case of an open wound or broken skin.


Dosing :

Under 2 years:
Safety and efficacy not established.
Above 2 years:
To be applied on affected area every 6-8 hours as per requirement.

Adverse Effect :

Rash, swelling.


Interaction :

None.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
