Flucinolone

Synonyms :

Fluocinolone, Fluocinonide

Mechanism :

Topical corticosteroids share anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. The mechanism of anti-inflammatory activity of the topical corticosteroids is unclear.

Indication :

  • Inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema

Contraindications :

Contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components.


Dosing :

Available as 0.025% cream, ointment.
Apply a thin film on the affected area two to four times daily depending on the severity of the condition.

Adverse Effect :

Dryness, itching, burning, striae, local irritation, skin atrophy, telangiectasia, atrophy of subcutaneous tissues, hypertrichosis, change in pigmentation and secondary infection. Adrenal suppression, posterior subcapsular cataracts on prolonged use.


Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
