Riboflavin

Synonym :

Vitamin B2

Mechanism :

It is a B complex vitamin. Riboflavin deficiency causes stomatitis, cheilitis. It is used in the treatment of ariboflavinosis.


Indication :

  • Vitamin B2 deficiency

Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity, Pregnancy.


Dosing :

RDA:
0-6 months: 0.3 mg/day
5-12 months: 0.4 mg/day
1-3 years: 0.5 mg/day
3-8 years: 0.6 mg/day
8-13 years: 0.9 mg/day
13-18 years: (Male) 1.3 mg/day; (Female) 1 mg/day.
Riboflavin Deficiency:
<3 years: Not established.
3-12 years: 3-10 mg/day PO in divided doses.
>12 years: 6-30 mg/day PO in divided doses.

Adverse Effect :

Yellow orange urine.


Interaction :

Caution with golden seal.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
