Can we do a CSF examination in children suspected of having fever with convulsion due to encephalitis, or meningitis if the facility of fundus examination is not available?

Expert Answer :
Yes. If the patient is conscious and has no focal deficit, it should be ok to go for LP. If either feature is affected, a CT scan to rule out a mass effect from any lesion is desirable
