Many times it is found in patients of malarial documented fever Widal test is found positive i.e. Salm typhO titre 1, 160 or more. Same thing I found with Dengue fever where Widal Salm typhO titres are raised to 1, 160 or more. I am told Widal is positive due to amnestic reaction and these cases are of malaria and dengue respectively. I really don't know how to confirm whether these cases are of only of malaria and dengue or coinfection ie malaria with typhoid and dengue with typhoid?

Expert Answer :
If the child responds without treatment with antityphoid medications, it suggests that the widal were false positive. To confirm, repeat widal after 2 weeks and check for rising titre in case of infection with typhoid.
