Which vaccines are mandatory, according to IAP, in normal children?
5
Expert Answer :
By law, no vaccine is mandatory. All the vaccines are recommended vaccines. There are two bodies recommending vaccines - the Government of India and IAP. IAP recommends all the GOI recommended vaccines plus some more vaccines that can prevent certain diseases having high morbidity and mortality. These are BCG, Hepatitis B, DPT, POLIO, HIB, Measles, MMR, Varicella, Rotavirus, Typhoid and Pneumococcal vaccines. Influenza vaccine is recommended for certain high-risk patients and HPV for girls above age 10 years.
