In cases of typhoid fever, how to asses the response to treatment? After what time do we repeat lab tests and what indicates a good response and cure in it? And if no cure, do we repeat the same treatment?

Clinical assessment of well-being and disappearance of fever. Usually, if fever persists for more than one week even after antibiotics, then resistance should be suspected.

A TYPHOID RESPONSE MAY TAKE TIME FROM 2 TO EVEN 10 DAYS. USUALLY WE DO NOT REPEAT TEST IF THERE IS ACLINCLA RESPONSE. ONLY IF CHILD SHOWS COMPLICATION WE REPEAT TEST

if fever is decreasing trend no need to change the treatment and no need further investigations

If the patient has responded well and afebrile after 72 hrs of IV ceftriaxone , no need to repeat lab tests. If still febril, repeat widal for rising titer. Do blood culture and proceed accordingly.
