Is Ondansetron safe in the pediatric age group for vomiting due to acute GI infection? What is the lower age limit?

Expert Answer :
Randomized, placebo-controlled trials have since demonstrated the efficacy and safety of Ondansetron in the treatment of established nausea and vomiting associated with gastroenteritis. The American Academy of Pediatrics now recognizes that Ondansetron 100–150 µg/kg can be effective in decreasing vomiting and limiting hospital admissions in gastroenteritis.
